Normally, I do not go on private property without permission. It's just a respect thing with me, most people around here don't mind at all for just a few pictures. But this house, I had never even noticed this house before, this house drew me in.

You really have to click on these to appreciate them full size...

I love old plaster walls... Not very efficient, but so much ambiance... I really want to plaster over the sheetrock walls in our house.. textured a bit, doing a faux paint treatment to make them look old (similar to the natural look of this plaster!)

I have to wonder about the meals cooked in this kitchen... The holidays, the funeral meals, the cups of tea for sick family members, the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners... Old houses still hold the memories of the families they contained...

This is a basement window. It does not match the other basement windows - Wasn't 'Majestic' a woodburning or coal burning stove company? I wonder at the story behind this... Could it be a coal chute?

The wood grain in the boards is beautiful... We have actually thought about finding the owner, and offering to take down this house just for the lumber... Like we have so much free time... But think of the benches, and pictures frames, and other things we could make out of this beautiful wood...

Hey there! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog, you're the first that doesn't know me! I love your blog, and you sound a lot like me, a Christian, hippie-fied homeschooling wife! I'd like to get more homestead-minded, but there's a little too much city in me still! I'd love to chat more, we have dear friends who live in Kansas! sarafranchesca@gmail.com

Awesome and beautiful pics...the soul and history is still there whispering...that would be some fine lumber to have. What a waste of precious resources. Someone must have been target practicing on the bottom pic...I hate that when people shoot up abandoned houses.

I hate that too... Like the windmill fin in the bottom picture of my windmill post... lack of respect...

Some of my favorite things to do is look at old houses (if I can get permission, great!) and feel the energy in the place.

Sometimes I can literally see the history of a place just by meditating a bit inside it.

I can always tell, if nothing else, whether the majority of life lived in a house was good, stressed, scary... sad... The emotions are still there...
