I don't know if it's because I grew up close to the land in a family of generations of wheat farmers - maybe it's in my blood - but it seems like nothing stirs my soul quite like a beautiful field of wheat against a blue Kansas sky... I realize that only one of these pictures has the sky in it,(and this is Sky Watch Friday) but that wheat is a product of that sky, almost as much as it is a product of that soil...

Those of you who read my main blog, Prairie Dreams, have already seen this picture.. but it's one of my favorite sunrise pictures... from April 11, 2008.

I took this yesterday, as the sun came up.. the sunrise was breathtaking, but after viewing the photo, what really caught my eye was the reflection in the FEMA trailer windows...

This photo, while showing my not-so-pretty FEMA trailer park, shows the sky late yesterday afternoon, I thought the clouds behind were the most amazing shade of blue...

We were sitting at a stop light in Pratt a few weeks ago, when I went to look up at the sky, my eyes never made it past this roofline on the other side of the street...

(edit: my other blog, Prairie Dreams, has a pretty (probably better!) sky picture today, too!)

I took this about 6 weeks ago, in Dodge City, Kansas. The streaks in the sky were incredible...

(Know what's kinda cool? If you go to THIS PAGE, at oprah.com, and scan through the current "Breathing Space Gallery", the second to last photo is one of mine! Not a real big thing, I guess, but I thought it was cool!)

We were driving down a dirt road, into the sunset, and a pickup was in front of us, kicking up dust... I couldn't beleive how beautiful it was - I'm glad I took this picture! (be sure to click on it to see it full size!)

I recieved my first award for this blog!! Yeah! From the fabulous Lilli & Nevada... Thank you so much!

(I'm posting this from the Intercontinental Hotel in Kansas City - here for work - I'll post it to my sidebar when I get home!)

I love this photo... not only the sunlight and the trees, but the road, the signs, and the poles disappearing into the distance...

and I caught where the beam of light goes this time, and it seems to stop in mid-air, like a "celestial being" landing there...

Wish I would have captured what that sunbeam is focusing on...

Both the huge, old cottonwood trees in the top picture, and every house and tree in the bottom picture were destroyed in the May 2007 tornado that destroyed 95% of our town...

Sunset reflected....

These were all taken last Friday.

There was an incredible ring around the moon that night, with high thin clouds floating fast beneath it. The ring was too big for me to capture whole with what equipment I have.

This picture doesn't do it justice.
(Be sure to see the moon in the last post, too! :)

Mornin' sky...

Taken moments ago...

Don't try to tell me that the sky alone
is not worth
getting out of bed for.
The Creator gives us all the beauty
we could ever need
every day
right over our heads
if we will only stop long enough
to take it all in.

The wonder of it all...
